Devlog #3 - Dec 15 2021
Hey everyone, this is the third bi-weekly development update. This update will be a bit shorter than usual, because most of the work in the past two weeks has been spent on behind the scenes work and stuff we can't share yet.
Release of Sealed Souls before Christmas
Progress is going great on the Sealed Souls update, and we plan on releasing the update sometime next week. We hope to release the first public experimental version on the experimental branch during the weekend for people to test out the new update and report issues that come up with new items, achievements etc.
We are currently working on finishing the implementation of the Seer NPC in the home base as well as adding 9 unique challenge runs into the game. We also still need to do a bit of polishing on the ghost fights and add some extra animations and visuals. Here is a small teaser gif of the new fight:
In order to unlock new challege runs, you need to defeat the ghost and it's host. These rooms can spawn randomly during a run when certain conditions have been met.
Improving Modding Support
We are also currently working on exposing more of the game to the modding API as well as improving the general workflow of the modding tools. Currently, all community made mods are only uploaded in the games official discord. Soon we will also look into adding Steam Workshop support to the game in order to make sharing mods in the community a lot easier. For Quest players, we plan on providing an external website where people can host mods. In the far future, we also plan to provide an ingame mod browser for even easier modding.
New Team Member
I'm glad to announce that we now have a new member in the Ancient Dungeon dev team! Thom will focus mostly on improving the mod support for the game as well as work on new items, milestones, and the general programming side of things. Since the game's release, the workload of the whole development process has increased significantly because we have more bug reports and more feedback to go through. Additionally, we still have so much more content planned for the future that it just was a matter of time until someone new joins the team in order to help out. Thom will work on Ancient Dungeon part-time for the time being, which will help me significantly in bringing the development of this game forward.
