EA Javelin Anticheat is Coming to Apex Legends

Intro

Effective September 29th, 2026, Apex Legends will be switching its PC anticheat system to EA Javelin Anticheat. We extend our deepest gratitudes to the Easy Anti Cheat team at Epic Games for a long and fruitful partnership. Moving to EA Javelin Anticheat will give our anticheat teams greater visibility into emerging threats and more flexibility to develop and improve detections as cheating evolves. This is an important step aligned with our priority to establish and maintain a high standard of competitive integrity in the Apex games.

EA Javelin Anticheat

EA Javelin Anticheat is a PC anticheat solution designed to ensure fair play in EA games by preventing and detecting cheating while focusing on privacy and security. The goal is for players to have a level playing field where results, progression and success are determined purely by merit. This gives our players a more secure experience, preventing cheaters from impacting others’ gameplay, security and privacy.

On titles that currently use EA Javelin Anticheat, the solution has prevented millions of cheating attempts while maintaining an accuracy rate of over 99%.

What to Expect

When this feature goes live on September 29th, PC players will be prompted to download a game update. After the update completes, launch Apex Legends and you’ll automatically be migrated to EA Javelin Anticheat – simple as that! 

Some players may be familiar with EA Javelin Anticheat from other EA titles and might remember a component requiring them to navigate bios menus on their PC to enable secure boot. At this time, that is not the case for Apex Legends; simply download, install, launch, and play.

Console Anticheat

While this update highlights our core PC protection layer, maintaining game integrity is a multi-platform priority. We continue to actively invest in specialized data models and server-side detection methods targeted at console-specific cheats. Bringing our anti-cheat engineering, telemetry, and data capabilities together in-house gives our teams greater speed and visibility, sharpening our ability to curb cheating across the entire landscape.
