IndieCade 2020 -- A playable demo has arrived!

Hello everyone!

As some of you may know, we're participating in the IndieCade festival among many other amazing studios and games. And in honor of IndieCade, we're making a demo of the game available for the duration of the event (October 16-24).

The demo is turn-limited, allowing you to play the first 20 turns of a game. Of course, being a demo, it's not in a finished state, so all standard disclaimers apply.

But that's not all! There will also be a (pre-recorded) stream where we play through the game, and give some nuggets of insight here and there. You can check that out on the Star Dynasties steam page!

IndieCade also has some exciting events planned, like a Q&A with IndieCade award nominees (includes us -- hurray!), and a livestream with lead developer Glen Pawley. Take a look at the schedule on our IndieCade page!

I was a closed alpha playtester, what's new?!

Here are the high-level changes you will find if you fire up this demo, as a direct result of your feedback;

• There are less popup updates each turn, and you can dial that amount up or down based on your preference.

• Combat has been revamped.

• The AI is less erratic.

• A long list of smaller issues with the game mechanics have been resolved.

And here's what we're still tinkering away at:

• Improvements to the Empire Management side of the game

• Starting position customization

• UI QoL Improvements

• Better tutorial / game mechanics explanation

We welcome any and all feedback on the demo. However, we're also planning on doing another full-blown playtest somewhere this year, so this isn't the end-all be-all -- have fun with it for now!
