Game Update - Patch 1.3
Greetings, all. For this update, we've mostly been focusing on a few persistent technical issues that people have reported, to try and make the game generally smoother to play. There's plenty of minor things as well, but the big ticket items this time are...
Game Systems
-
Sharper Fonts. Although the game looks great on most displays, we had word that things could be a bit blurry on lower res devices and handhelds. As such, we've switched the main font to use MSDF rendering, which should be sharper for everyone. The temporary catch is that this may mean that you currently see the occasional odd graphical issue on specific letters, due to the way that the Godot engine doesn't quite properly render our primary narration font in this mode. I've manually edited the glyphs to get rid of as many glitches as I could find, but let me know if you see any - with so many ligatures, only occasionally used symbols and multiple font variations, I have
almostcertainly missed some. -
Windowed Mode. Some players were having issues going to and from windowed mode, and this should now be a lot smoother and more reliable. At launch, or when going into windowed mode for the first time, the game will automatically centre the window on your screen (to prevent it getting trapped in the ether of multiple monitors/resolutions/etc...), but after that it will remember its position and size as you jump back and forth in that session.
-
Steam Deck. The phone UI is now zoomed in on both the title screen and in the main narration to make it easier to read the text and see the currently selected option.
-
Achievements. Another shot at the bizarrely frustrating issue of persuading the Wealth and Prestige achievements to fire after being unlocked (at the start of the next night in your Sanctuary). It worked here, so fingers crossed! Unrelated, game development is pain.
Storyline Changes
-
General. Clarified a number of quest steps that were causing confusion and fixed several edge cases in later game stories, like updating questlog information to factor in key characters being killed (very possibly by you) between receiving the quest and finishing it.
-
Fight Club. Saoirse has decreed that in the interests of fair play, Championship fights should be exclusively 1 v 1, which means that you no longer get your Companion stat boosts during arena battles. You still get to use any weapons, relics or gifts that you bring with you, but you can't simply drag a tough friend in to give you an unfair Domination advantage over the other combatants. Your Companion will be cheering for you, of course, and rejoin you after the fight.
That's all for now. See you in the shadows!
