Community Items + Hotfix #2 & Compatibility Branch!

Hello Explorers!

It’s time to show off your Sota7 achievements to the world! As you might have already noticed, we've just added Steam Community Items to Honeycomb: The World Beyond! On top of these shiny new collectibles, today’s update brings Hotfix #2, packed with quality-of-life improvements and community-reported bug fixes.

You can now earn badges, emoticons, profile backgrounds, and trading cards. And don't worry if you've already spent hours exploring Sota7 - your past playtime counts toward card drops, so you might find a few waiting in your Steam inventory right away!

🛡️ Badges

Craft cards to level up your badge and show off your progression! You can collect 5 main levels plus a special Foil Badge, each featuring your favorite Sota7 creature:

Collect 7 unique trading cards featuring memorable moments, meme-inspired encounters, and daily life on Sota7:

💬 Emoticons

Express yourself in Steam chats and discussions with 5 custom character emoticons covering every reaction you'll ever need - from happy and amazed to angry, stressed, and full of love!

🖼️ Profile Backgrounds

Decorate your Steam profile with the breathtaking scenery of Sota7! Showcase the planet's vibrant alien flora, dense forests, and bioluminescent landscapes.

Gameplay & Controls

Item Placement Available From the Start: Placing items and structures is now unlocked from the very beginning of the game on every difficulty.
Smarter Dart Gun Reload: When no ammo type is selected, reloading now automatically loads Sleep darts from your inventory. If you have none, it falls back to Plant Booster darts.
Mid-Air Crouch Fix: Fixed an issue where crouching while sprinting in the air abruptly stopped your movement.
More Forgiving Unstuck: The unstuck feature now also works when you are not standing on the ground but are barely moving, so it helps in more situations where you get trapped.
Drone Controls: On gamepad, moving the drone up and down has moved to D-pad Up and Down. Leaving drone mode no longer requires a button combination.

Quests

Mystery Beacon Door: Fixed the door at the Mystery Beacon not always closing behind you once the quest is completed. The door now closes when you walk through it after finishing the quest.

Inventory & Items

Trash Can Interaction: Fixed trash can interactions. The interaction prompt now appears only once the trash can is fully built.
Inventory Weight After Loading: Inventory weight is now recalculated when a save is loaded, fixing incorrect weight values after loading.

Map Screen

Map Filters: Fixed the "toggle all" filters button so individual filters update correctly and keep their state.
Consoles: Fixed hovering over map icons and their names not working on consoles.

Interface & Localization

Text Fitting: Long translations no longer get cut off in Photo Mode options, the Compendium, the Journal, map filters, settings switches, the feedback screen, and the game intro.
Key Icons in Text: Key and button icons inside text no longer stretch the line they appear in, so hints and guides keep even line spacing.
Changing Language In-Game: Switching the language from the pause menu now applies immediately, and the Display Mode and Resolution options refresh correctly afterwards.
Performance Warning Popup: The RTXDI warning popup now resizes to its text, so the message no longer overlaps the Continue button.

World & Audio

Amberland Landmark: Added an ambient sound zone with cave reverb at the Amberland landmark.
Collision: Added a collision barrier in one of the passages.

🛠️ Troubleshooting & "Compatibility" Steam Branch

We know that performance and stability are crucial for an enjoyable journey on Sota7. While we are continuously optimizing the game with every patch, hardware variance and specific system settings can sometimes cause unexpected crashes, shader compilation errors, or stuttering.

If you are experiencing any technical issues, please take a moment to read our detailed Honeycomb Troubleshooting Guide on the Steam forums. It covers essential fixes for GPU drivers, VRAM limits, laptop GPU settings, and temporary workaround toggles.

For players who are still encountering persistent crashes or playing on older/unsupported configurations, we have launched a dedicated "compatibility" Steam branch. This version is specifically optimized to maximize stability across a wider array of hardware setups.

How to Switch to the "Compatibility" Branch:

Open your Steam Library and locate Honeycomb: The World Beyond in your games list.
Right-click on the game title and select Properties...
In the left-hand side menu of the Properties window, click on Game Versions & Betas.
Under Beta Participation, select compatibility from the list.
Close the Properties window. Steam will automatically trigger an update to download the compatibility files. Once complete, you are ready to launch!
