Black Friday Event and Patch Preview

Black Friday Event

On Friday, there will be a Black Friday Event where the rules of the game will change just for that day to introduce some variety and wackiness into the core gameplay. All new runs in both ranked and unranked will be affected in the same way, and we will wipe ghosts created during the event duration once it has ended. The event runs from 9am PST on the 28th to 9am PST on the 29th.

This is a test of this style of system to see how it will be generally received. If it goes well, we’ll consider doing more as well as adding more official client support for this type of feature.

The specific effects will be revealed on Friday so no one can get a head start on theorycrafting!

Patch Preview

As usual, we want to give you an early taste of what’s coming in the patch next week. This month our primary focus was on getting more unique skills for each hero, along with a number of fun new items.

New Skills

Vanessa, Pygmalien, Dooley and Mak are all getting a number of new skills focused on some of their unique item types. We hope these skills will open up new lines for them in addition to improving existing ones. A focus of many of these skills is on modifying item types of items on your board.

New Items

Vanessa has discovered new items out at sea that should help a number of her builds. Not to be outdone, Mak and Dooley have uncovered a few new items to spice things up.

Balance Update and General Fixes

The majority of our balance updates this patch have been to Jules and Pygmalien. We have seen that they are performing a bit below the curve of the other Heroes and are aiming to level them out a bit. To accomplish this we have buffed a bunch of their items and redesigned a few that are currently underutilized. Beyond them there are some tweaks to other Heroes items in the standard fashion, looking to reduce outliers a bit and improve items that aren’t being played much.
