[p align="start"]Bessie Coleman (1892–1926) was the first African American and first Native American woman to earn a pilot’s license.
[p align="start"]Because flight schools in the United States refused to teach her due to racism and sexism, she traveled to France to train and received her international pilot’s license in 1921.
[p align="start"]Known as “Queen Bess,” she became famous for her stunt flights and inspired generations to pursue aviation despite barriers.
