The Mermaid Mask - Out Next Week! 🧜‍♀️

All hand on deck - it's **ONE WEEK TO GO! **

This time next week we'll be celebrating the launch of The Mermaid Mask, but before we disappear beneath the waves for final preparations, we’d love your help with one final push.

We’re incredibly close to 100,000 wishlists on Steam, which is huge number for an indie. Following the game, wishlisting it, or downloading the demo all help give the Steam algorithm a little nudge and make it easier for more players to discover The Mermaid Mask.

But we have a couple more pieces of evidence to inspect.

Every mystery has a centre of gravity.

For The Mermaid Mask, that centre is Captain Magnus Mortuga: former captain of the submarine, keeper of his own council, and the man whose death turns the whole voyage into a locked-room murder investigation.

So before we go any further, it’s time to open his case file.

**Known for: **Being the former captain of the Mortuga Submarine. Now found dead inside the locked “Illusion Theatre”, accompanied only by an ancient stone cauldron and a broken vial.

**First impression: **Silent, enigmatic, and impossible to ignore. Even in death, Captain Mortuga casts a long shadow over the case from the moment Sally and Grimoire step aboard.

Mortuga feels less like a man and more like a myth condemned to dwell at the bottom of the sea. We imagined him as a mix between Captain Nemo, Dracula, and Batman: a mysterious figure surrounded by rumours, isolation, and stories no one can quite prove.

Some say he was cursed to remain underwater forever. Some say sunlight was forbidden to him. Some say he was ancient, impossible, and not quite human.

Maybe he was a vampire. Maybe he was a prisoner of fate. Maybe he was just a mortal man trapped inside the legend built around him.

And now he’s dead.

Voiced by: David Menkin, whose credits include PRAGMATA, Final Fantasy XVI, VALORANT, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla, Xenoblade Chronicles 2, and LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga. We’re delighted to have him onboard as the enigmatic Captain Mortuga.
