0.14.0.
In my previous news post, I had to bend the truth a little by saying that update 0.14.0 would be focused on decorationsːsteamdeadpanː. I genuinely intended to do that at first, but then I suddenly came up with an idea for how the skill system should work in the game, and I quickly found myself fully immersed in creating itːsteamhappyː.
Initially, I planned to release the skill system together with the addition of new decorative items as one larger update. But in the end, I decided to split them into separate updates. So 0.14.0 ended up being focused on skills and some other changes, while the update with the new decorative items will come later.
➕ Added
- Added a player skill system. The skill menu can be found among the categories in the player's inventory.
-
Added 2 items for the skill system. These items are primarily used to purchase skills. They can be obtained from zombies, which can now be searched. There is also a small chance of finding them in bags. Several of them can be found scattered around the upper level.
-
Added 2 achievements related to unlocking skills.
-
Added a Music category to the player's inventory. It can only be used when headphones are equipped, which have also been added. They can be unlocked on the lower level using floppy disks.
-
Added stack support for garbage compartments. Some items, such as seeds, could previously contain multiple units in a single object. For example, one seed object could contain 5 seeds, but throwing it away would only give a single reward instead of five times the reward.
🔧 Fixed
-
Fixed object throwing being dependent on the frame rate. Before the fix, at low FPS, for example 10 FPS, objects could be thrown 2–3 times farther than at 60 FPS. There should now be no difference, or at least it should be minimal. If you notice anything strange with certain items, let me know.
-
Fixed the vacuum cleaner's pull being dependent on the frame rate. The situation was similar to the previous issue, but in this case, at low FPS, the vacuum cleaner could pull objects from a greater distance and with much more force.
-
Fixed the attack range against enemies for almost all melee weapons. Before the fix, the attack range did not match the weapon. For example, the sledgehammer was actually hitting much closer than it should.
-
Fixed a flickering ceiling in one of the starting rooms on the lower levels.
-
Fixed the hitmarker position, which could appear off-center depending on the screen resolution.
✨ Improvements & Miscellaneous
-
Increased the sponge durability from 30 to 40.
-
Replaced the models for some cassettes.
-
Reduced the mass of paper stacks, as they were previously difficult to pull with the vacuum cleaner.
-
Changed the vacuum cleaner's pull radius. It should theoretically work better now, but if you notice any changes for the worse, let me know.
-
If Hold to Sprint is disabled in the controls settings, sprinting will now be automatically disabled when attempting to use the vacuum cleaner. Sprinting will also be automatically disabled when attempting to aim.
-
Removed the circular progress indicator from hold interactions due to the addition of the seconds countdown prompt.
-
Changed the interaction prompt for bags from "Interact" to "Search".
-
Increased the bag search time from 1 to 2 seconds.
-
Significantly simplified the collision of the red and black bags to make it harder to get stuck in them.
-
Added a fire sound to torches.
-
Added a slight black outline to the hitmarker to make it more visible in bright areas.
