We’ve kept Action Quake 2 going for years because we still love playing together, but when winter comes around, we don’t have enough good winter and Christmas maps to play. This map jam is your chance to change that—to bring some fresh maps into the scene, spice up the Christmas season for pubs and pickup matches alike, and make Christmas games something more people want to join.

The theme

Christmas with a 90s/2000s feel and a touch of the present day. Think action movies, family movies, or memorable places from that era.

Map guidelines:

• Make a playable winter or Christmas map, make it atmospheric and memorable!

• Aim for fast or semi-fast gameplay with room for tactical decisions and different play styles

• Give all weapons places where they can shine

• Ensure there are several spawnpoints for variety

• Add good flow and some satisfying jumps

• Avoid frustrating or unfair spawn points

• Bring your own ideas and style!

Community Voting

Submitted maps will go into a map pool for the community to play and vote on. The community will pick winners in five categories:

• Best Overall — the community’s favorite map

• Best Theme — the strongest Christmas and 90s/2000s atmosphere

• Best Play — the most enjoyable gameplay and flow

• Best Technical — the strongest map construction and performance

• Best Looking — the most impressive visual design.
