Patch 2.0 Beta: Day One

Ahoy!

Thank you to everyone who is playing the beta and sending us reports about bugs, issues, and crashes.

You are the best community we could ask for, and a patch like 2.0 is only possible with players like you.

I can see that many of you are already getting worried and judging the beta as if it were the final product, even though it is still very, very far from its final state.

Where we are right now

• We really did rebuild the game from the ground up.

• At the moment, only about 80% of it is complete.

• In game development, 80% does not mean “almost finished.” It means “it has only just become playable.”

• The visuals right now are not simply unfinished — they have barely been tuned at all.

• Our current priority is fixing crashes, hardware and driver conflicts, and performance issues.

• After that, we will finish the remaining technical systems, including anti-aliasing, the ocean, and clouds.

• Only at the very end will we finalize lighting, color grading, and the rest of the visual settings.

I understand your concerns, because for the first time you are seeing the game in a state that is normally only seen by the developers themselves.

I also understand the emotions behind those concerns, because you care about the game. You expected a lot from 2.0, and you still do — especially after that trailer.

I can say this with full confidence: in the complete version of Patch 2.0, you will see stunning visuals, stable performance, proper optimization, and plenty of reasons to return to the game you love.
