Sneak Peek at the New DLC! - Pt.1

Hello, Ascenders.

Today we've brought some surprising, special news. It's about the very first new skin DLC being added to Ascend to ZERO! We'd like to share with you a little behind-the-scenes look at how the first skin theme came to be decided.

◼ How We Landed on the Main Theme

Before the theme was finalized, the dev team poured out all kinds of drafts and ideas. The thought of showing "everyday casual wear" or "what the characters might look like across different dimensions" had us genuinely excited from the ideation stage onward.

***"If Chrono Child had grown up in an ordinary world, what would she look like, and what job would she have?" ***

"If all six characters came from a fantasy world, would Chrono Child be a wizard, or a warrior?"

"What skin would best capture a fresh new appeal for the characters while still matching up with upcoming content?" and so on — we had a lot of fun debating many different directions.

Along the way, there were some funny moments too. A few people on the dev team strongly pushed for "maid outfits that bring out each character's charm." At first, everyone reacted with "isn't that a little out of nowhere?" — though honestly, there was a part of everyone that seemed secretly hopeful. Unfortunately, the maid outfit concept, along with a few other ideas, had to be saved for another time.

(That said, if this new skin ends up getting a lot of love and support from you Ascenders... who knows, maybe a "maid outfit skin," born purely out of the dev team's personal wishes, could become a reality someday! 👀)

**◼ Deciding on the "Little Devil" Theme

**

After a great deal of deliberation, the theme we finally settled on for this skin set is: "Little Devil."

This "Little Devil" theme isn't just about showing off a different side of our six existing characters — it's also closely tied to the world of "Zero Dimension," new content coming in a future update.

Since each character was originally designed around the unique dimension and theme they come from, finding a natural way to blend in this new "little devil" look and concept was a genuinely fresh and exciting challenge for our dev team.

And with the timing lining up nicely with Halloween, we hoped this would land as a fun, perfectly-seasonal surprise for all of you Ascenders.

In the upcoming Part 2, we'll dive into exactly how this "Little Devil" theme was applied to each of the six characters — including the dev team's intense discussions around preserving visual clarity, and all the little details packed with each character's unexpected charm.
