Updated roadmap & news about Tier 3!
Hi everyone!
As you’ve probably noticed, Tower Factory’s updates are quite a bit behind the dates I originally published in the roadmap almost a year ago.
Up until version 0.5, I managed to stick to what I had planned, but starting in March, things became more complicated.
Here’s an image with the updated roadmap. As you can see, I’m planning to have version 0.6 ready by the end of October. This update will introduce Tier 3, which I’ve already been working on for several months.
TIER 3
I still can’t show you too much of Tier 3, as I’m currently finishing up the 3D models, animations, visual effects, and everything else that goes with it. For now, though, I can give you a first look at some of the resources you’ll be crafting in the new tier.
The entirety of Tier 3 will revolve around three elements: Obsidian, Light, and Eclipse. The new towers will be based around these elements and, as you’d expect, they’ll be very powerful!
The new tier will bring new and faster conveyor belts, 3 resource extraction buildings, 4 production buildings, and a new building that will give you some interesting new options when it comes to organizing your factory.
There will also be 2 new status effects for enemies, in addition to the existing Slow, Bleed, Burn, and Poison effects.
WHY SUCH A LONG DELAY?
I’ve always felt that when you, the players, come to Steam, you’re here to have fun and take your mind off things. That’s why I generally haven’t gone into much detail about the reasons behind all these delays.
So, if you’d rather just carry on with your day without getting sad reading about my problems, feel free to skip this section. I think that’s a completely fair choice.
As many of you will know, over the past few months I’ve mentioned both in my recent Steam posts and on Discord that a family member had become seriously ill.
I don’t want to go into too much detail, but in February I received the terrible news that my father was suffering from a serious illness. On top of how difficult that already was, my father lived in a different country from me, around 3,000 km away. This meant that whenever I went to visit him, I was barely able to work for obvious reasons.
These past few months have been extremely difficult for me personally. There was often bad news about his condition, and even when there wasn’t, I was still constantly dealing with sadness and fear about what might happen. Sadly, on August 17th, my father passed away.
As you can probably imagine, this year has been incredibly difficult for me, and that is the main reason behind the delays in Tower Factory’s development.
On top of that, last summer another very close family member also suffered from serious health problems, although fortunately things turned out well in that case.
With all that said, I’m now starting to get back into a good working rhythm. So hopefully there shouldn’t be any more major delays in Tower Factory’s development, and this time I hope I’ve estimated the schedule correctly!
If you’ve read this far, all that’s left for me to say is thank you for your support and understanding.
I hope the next update will be worth the wait, and that you’ll all enjoy it!
Best regards, Gius Caminiti
