The Bell Echoes — Early Access Launch Announcement
Today, The Bell Echoes officially launches on Steam in Early Access.
It’s a game that blends linear SRPG storytelling with tactical Roguelite builds: a 3-character squad, turn-based high-density combat, and a strong focus on grid interactions such as displacement/knockback collisions, elevation, and cover, along with risk-and-reward decisions built around buildcrafting and the Stress system.
If you enjoy “doing a lot in a single turn,” and love chaining tactics and synergy on a compact grid, we’d love for you to jump in—and tell us what you think.
What’s in the Early Access build right now?
The Early Access launch version already includes the core experience of The Bell Echoes, along with a foundation we can iterate on:
-
Playable main story content: Prologue + Chapters 1–3
-
Playable characters: 5 (each with their own skill kit and build directions)
-
Roguelite runs (the “Contaminated Zone”): Misty Forest / Desert Plains / Frozen Caverns
- Featuring a wide variety of enemies, events, rewards, and build progression
-
Enemies & Bosses: 6 bosses / 35+ enemy types
- Each map features its own enemy lineup and boss encounters
We plan to keep expanding content, improving pacing, tuning balance, and strengthening overall stability in future updates.
About Memory Fragment: a hidden storyline we’ll complete over time during EA
As you progress through the main story, you may see a clue-type concept called Memory Fragment—these were originally planned to be scattered throughout the Roguelite maps in the Contaminated Zone.
In our original design, finding a specific Memory Fragment in the Contaminated Zone would unlock a piece of hidden story that runs alongside the main plot, revealing another side of the world and its characters.
But we want to be completely honest: this feature and its content are not yet at the quality level we want to deliver. To avoid players picking up something that “doesn’t properly do anything yet” and feeling confused or frustrated, we decided that:
-
In the current Early Access build, Memory Fragment will not be placed in the Contaminated Zone yet.
-
Once the content and presentation are more complete—and meet our quality bar—we plan to add it into the Contaminated Zone, and we’ll explain how it’s obtained and what it unlocks in the patch notes.
To be clear: this does not affect your ability to enjoy the main story and the core gameplay loop in the current build. We’d rather you first experience “combat + builds + pacing” in a solid form; the hidden fragment stories will be added at a more suitable time.
Why Early Access?
The Bell Echoes is trying to solve a problem we care deeply about: How do we truly fuse a linear, story-driven SRPG with a replayable tactical Roguelite—instead of simply stitching two separate modes together?
For us, Early Access isn’t “selling early.” It’s letting real players and real feedback become part of the polishing process—especially around:
-
Difficulty curve and balance (build strength, enemy mechanics, pacing)
-
The connection between story and roguelite pacing (progression speed, information delivery, event rhythm)
-
Onboarding and UI experience (readability, usability, learning curve)
-
Stability and bug fixing
How will the full version differ from Early Access?
During Early Access, we want to keep iterating and bring the game from “core framework is fun” to “more complete content, more stable experience, and deeper strategy.” Our planned directions include:
-
More story and chapters (including gradually completing hidden story content like Memory Fragment)
-
More characters / build options / combat content (for richer replayability and diversity)
-
More enemies / bosses and grid-interaction scenarios (for deeper tactical space)
-
More quality improvements (UI / onboarding / readability / performance / feel)
Priorities may change based on player feedback and real development constraints—but we’ll do our best to explain the reasoning behind each major change.
Will the price change?
Our current plan is to keep the price the same during Early Access.
If we ever need to adjust the price in the future, we will announce it in advance.
How can you participate?
