Ship based Workshop releases for Bulwark in BETA now!
Steam Workshop is here for Bulwark!
So it's been a while since I did a big update for Bulwark, and it's time to remedy this with some big news. For those of you who follow my games, I am creating shipshaper a historical and fantasy boat design experience/game that allows you to design boats, a little bit like Spore or Tiny Glade. ShipShaper also is part of this franchise, because it exports straight to Bulwark via the Steam Workshop.
Here's what these ships look like inside Bulwark.

So a quick rundown of this news
-
Shipshaper is a fun new way to design ships, not just for Bulwark but it exports specifically to Bulwark also
-
Shipshaper releases September 2nd into EA.
-
I've released a selection of ships NOW into the Bulwark Workshop
-
You need to set Bulwark to BETA via game properties/betas and select the beta update
-
Subscribe to the ships in the workshop, the keywords will tell you what ship they replace
-
reload Bulwark and they will appear
Warning: You cannot export ships from shipshaper to Bulwark YET !, that will be part of the EA release September 2nd.
What does this mean for the future of Bulwark?
Well that's the right question, roughly it means that its very hard to maintain Bulwark on Steam, because Steam rewards new games and releases. And Shipshaper is a franchise focused attempt to create an ecosystem within this franchise. Games that connect and work together and keep adding value. And hopefully Shipshaper will bring in new players and fans for Bulwark. Thus allowing me to keep building this universe. Now shipshaper also has a heavy historical aspect, so I am blurring the lines a bit, but that is because I both love boats in general and need to bring in new players.
IF you want to support this direction, see more games in this universe that connect to each other, then for the love of Gabe, please Wishlist and help ShipShaper succeed. or just try out the demo!! [dynamiclink href="https://store.steampowered.com/app/4339280/ShipShaper/"][/dynamiclink]
There are also some new features to this beta update for Bulwark.
-
In the Beta you can control any of these ships the same way you switch to your command flagship, hold the cursor reticule near and press the switch button and voila you are sailing the boat
-
you can fire the ships guns if you aim far away with the mouse, they only fire at sea level,, so a bit of fun in a naval encounter
-
I reworked the entire Tutorial, removing the flying lock and making it more responsive and explorative. The old one was pretty sucky.
-
Some minor fixes and polish on items

Tomas ! What happened to the Medieval House DLC?
Well that's still coming, but me and the publisher have decided to release that after ShipShaper in order to focus all effort on ShipShaper and the Steam Workshop integration for Bulwark. So it will release likely shortly after Ship Shaper. This also gives me some time to unwind and add a bit more goodness to the Medieval housepack.!
[dynamiclink href="https://store.steampowered.com/app/4669440/Bulwark_Falconeer_Chronicles__Medieval_Houses_DLC/?curator_clanid=42854035"][/dynamiclink]Do wishlist that as well !
Anyways,, There is a grand vision unfolding for Bulwark, and the entire franchise. But like always it can only be done with your support. This isn't about viral hits or massive success, this is about building something sustainable brick by brick, and I hope with the Workshop and Shipshaper you all are going to be more a part of this than ever!
Cheerio, Tomas
P.S this beta is still in beta, so report any issues so I can fix them ;)
