The V8 Power Pack comes to Project Motor Racing this September.

The V8 Power Pack delivers nine legendary V8 race cars spanning modern Australian touring-car muscle, current American Motorsport machinery, and the raw roots of historic US road racing, plus the scanned Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta.

There are subtle ways to go racing. The V8 Power Pack is not one of them.

Different decades. Different philosophies. Same basic recipe: take one loud V8, attach to rear-wheel drive, shake and bake.

Historic US V8: When Muscle Learned to Turn

The golden of US Motorsport era took America’s pony-car wars off the showroom floor and onto the racetrack.

Featuring the 1971 AMC Javelin, 1969 Chevrolet Camaro, 1970 Ford Mustang Boss 302, and 1970 Plymouth Barracuda. This class represents a period when AMC, Chevrolet, Ford, and Plymouth fought for supremacy on Sundays (and sales on Mondays) with small-block V8s, uncertain grip, and almost nothing between driver and consequences.

These cars move. They roll. They slide. They slide some more. And when several hundred horsepower arrives at the rear wheels while you’re still deciding whether the corner is finished, always remember the old dictum: “When in doubt, power out!”

No aero dependency. No electronic rescue operation. Just mechanical grip, weight transfer and four legendary shapes from America’s golden age.

US V8: Same Weapons. Your Problem.

Fast-forward half a century and the US V8 class keeps much of that philosophy alive.

The Chevrolet Camaro, Dodge Challenger, and Ford Mustang may wear familiar muscle-car silhouettes, but underneath they’re purpose-built space-frame racers created around a tightly controlled formula.

Naturally aspirated V8. Rear-wheel drive. Limited aero. Closely matched performance.

Which means there’s nowhere to hide. When the car alongside has essentially the same weapons you do, another fifty horsepower isn’t coming to save you. Brake later. Carry more speed. Get onto the throttle earlier.

Simple formula. Very difficult execution.

AUS V8 EVO: Pick a Side

Then there’s Australia. The 2023 Chevrolet Camaro AU and 2023 Ford Mustang AU bring modern Gen3 warfare to the V8 Power Pack: purpose-built race cars, naturally aspirated V8 power, reduced downforce, and a continuing commitment to settling disagreements at very high speed.

Camaro versus Mustang. Bowtie versus Blue Oval.

Modern engineering, old-fashioned aggression, and two cars perfectly happy to remind you that 600-ish horsepower and rear-wheel drive remain an excellent recipe for bad behaviour.

Welcome to Road Atlanta

Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta is 2.54 miles of blind crests, elevation changes, fast esses and heavy braking zones carved into the Georgia hills. It’s the sort of circuit where fast cars feel faster, old cars feel wilder, and one small mistake has plenty of opportunity to become a large one.
