PvE Survival Crafting Fest

We are ever so proud and pleased to be part of the PvE Survival Crafting Fest! This is a sale and a fest that really hits the spot for UnReal World. And with our deepest discount ever, we’re making sure there’s no price versus player issue. ;)

So feel very welcome into the Far North, new adventurers. I'll get you into mood with two stories.

UnReal World

Trudging through the coniferous woods in unexceptionally cold early-winter weather, you start to realize that the elk-fur outfit you made in the summer, which didn't turn out as well as you'd hoped, won't keep you warm enough for much longer. You decide to camp for the night, cut some spruce branches to lay on the snowy ground, build a fire, eat a bit of self-smoked fish, and spend the evening crafting a few arrows. Night falls. You see an owl flying by and fall asleep. You wake up freezing a few times and throw some more wood onto the campfire. In the morning, you continue heading towards the village you saw from a hilltop the day before. You hope to find a blacksmith there and trade the squirrel hides you've managed to hunt and tan for a decent broad axe head. You know you can make good shafts yourself. If the plan works, you can finally start building your own log cabin. You come across a small frozen lake and notice fresh elk tracks leading out onto the ice. The bow and arrows you're carrying are self-made and of very good quality. If you could manage to hunt down that elk, you could trade its meat and hide for even better equipment. So you ready your bow and arrow and start tracking the elk. The ice doesn't make a sound as you step onto it, so you trust it. Then you spot the elk farther out on the ice. It spots you too and escapes. You start running after it, only to see the ice first give way beneath the elk and then beneath yourself. The hunter and the prey both fall into the icy water and start struggling for their lives...

Real World

Having spent the whole day coding a game that can bring the player character into an endless variety of survival scenarios, like the one above, you realize it's close to midnight, yet the sun of the nightless summer is still up in the sky. You feel like going for a midnight walk. The coniferous forest lines the winding dirt road as you make your way onward, with nightingales and blackbirds singing their hearts out. On your way to greet an old friend, a mighty old spruce tree that stands far taller than the other trees around it, you spot fresh elk tracks crossing the road. That is not unusual, but it is always a delight. There are those mighty yet silent four-legged midnight walkers exploring these very same regions, their senses alert to the sounds and smells of the night. But just a few meters farther on, there are other kinds of tracks crossing the very same road, leading in the same directions as the elk tracks. These tracks are big and have claws. It's a bear, and that is a rarer encounter. You take a closer look to make sure there's only one bear, with no smaller tracks from a bear cub, as that could make the situation risky. But it's a single bear, and it's already gone into the woods. How delightful. There are many midnight walkers on this road today. You continue on your way. The sun never sets, but eventually you return indoors to rest for the night, as tomorrow is another coding day.
