High On Racing Returns: Windows, Linux & macOS Update

High On Racing is getting a major maintenance update!

We’ve returned to the original game to address longstanding issues, improve compatibility with modern systems, and bring it to Linux and macOS. This update is for the original High On Racing and is included for existing owners.

Three platforms, the original game

• Updated Windows 64-bit build.

• Native Linux 64-bit support.

• Native macOS support for Apple Silicon.

• 16:9 gameplay resolutions, with the original menu artwork preserved.

Visual and camera fixes

• Corrected sky, cloud and material rendering.

• Fixed collectible rendering, including upright rotating clocks and diamond depth ordering.

• Improved menu font scaling.

• Restored the original shallower camera angle while driving.

• Smoothed camera movement and improved camera clearance around walls.

Gameplay and reliability

• Improved timing consistency across different frame rates.

• Fixed specific collision, jumping and restart issues.

• Corrected final-track completion and high-score handling.

• Improved audio playback and resource cleanup.

• Preserved compatible legacy progress and moved settings into writable user folders.

Options that apply correctly

Resolution and fullscreen changes now take effect directly in the menu. Music and sound-effect volumes apply immediately, and settings are saved when changed. Shadow changes take effect in the next race.

We also fixed an issue that could make a fading sound effect audible again after muting it.

The original tracks, artwork, controls and gameplay balance remain at the heart of this update. Our focus has been bringing the classic game back into working shape and addressing problems reported by players.
