Happy Birthday, Fishing Planet!

Today, Fishing Planet turns 11!

On August 11, 11 years ago, Fishing Planet first launched on Steam, and that’s where it all started.

Every Anniversary, we look back at what we’ve accomplished over the past year, and this one has been incredibly busy. Honestly, it feels like every year gets busier, and we couldn’t be happier about it!

Last August, while bringing Noomaa Kuda Atholhu, Maldives, one of your favorite destinations, to consoles, we were already working on something completely different: Norway, with its rough waves, thunderstorms, and new fishing experiences.

We also launched our official Instagram account in August. It may not be our largest channel yet, but it has quickly become one of our most active places for Fishing Planet news.

Autumn brought Halloween and Thanksgiving events, Tournaments, Twitch Drops, and Black Friday deals. Then Christmas arrived with the release of Skarland Fjord, Norway, on Steam and Epic Games!

The update introduced the Valkyrie Boat with a crane for hauling giant fish, dozens of new gear items, electric rods and reels that so many players had been looking forward to, and the long-awaited Inventory Sorting System. Iconic species like Greenland and Porbeagle Sharks, Atlantic Halibut, European Sea Sturgeon, fierce weather conditions and the Northern Lights made Norway an unforgettable destination. And the Christmas Event was updated with a whole new chain of missions in Norway, which also was a great surprise for many players.

During winter, we worked to bring Norway to more platforms. The journey had a few bumps, and we are still working on the Mobile and Nintendo Switch versions, but the update successfully reached PlayStation and XBOX, where Norway quickly became one of the most popular waterways.

In January, we launched our official TikTok**, a**nd it has been an incredible amount of fun ever since! We love seeing you enjoy the game, exchange fishing advice, and find new fishing buddies on all of our social media channels.

Spring brought back the Saint Patrick’s Day Event and introduced the Catch & Compete Update. New rewarding Leaderboards, Competitive Rating and Matchmaking, Daily Missions, and colored Marker Buoys added more variety and joy to your everyday fishing.

Then came the Back to Basics - First Levels Rework Update, and what a response it received! Your excitement and feedback gave us so much energy to continue!

The update improved the experience for new anglers and completely reworked the beloved Lone Star Lake while keeping its cozy atmosphere and Texas spirit. Players finally received a place to call home, complete with a Trophy Room where they can show off their finest catches and relive their favorite fishing memories.

This August we introduced our new official website that we’ve been working on for the past few months. And now, we’re celebrating together with the brand-new Anniversary Event! It brings years of community fishing experience into one journey, encouraging you to revisit waterways you may have forgotten and explore destinations you haven’t yet discovered.

We know some missions are challenging, take time, or require gear that newer players may not have yet. But the event will return next year. As you level up and improve your equipment, the missions that feel difficult today will become much easier. Until then, enjoy the journey, discover new places, catch what you can, take a walk along the shore, or rent a boat and explore new waters.

Fishing Planet has always been about the journey, and enjoying the road matters far more than simply reaching the final destination.

Eleven years after Fishing Planet first entered the world, we’re still building, expanding, and dreaming, and somehow, it feels like we’re only getting started.

We remember them, cherish their memory, and remain forever grateful for being able to continue our work every day. 

It all started 11 years ago, on August 11. Some say 11:11 is a magical number, a moment to make a wish and hope it comes true.

We may not believe in the magic of numbers, but we believe in a strong team, great ideas, the people who bring those ideas to life, and the incredible community that enjoys and supports them every step of the way.
