Argont's Chef's Hat
Arlene said that she worked with unusual cooks in Argont's kitchen. They wore strange chef's caps and masks. But they weren't there to keep their hair from falling into the soup. They were starched so hard they could withstand sword blows. And the mask—made of hardened dough, with slits for the eyes and a narrow slit for breathing—could repel even the most powerful spells and withstand blows from the Nameless Ones. Arlene said that Argont himself had made these caps so the cooks could place orders for beings living beyond the Sphere and withstand their wrath if they didn't like the dish.
These cooks weren't taught archery. They were taught to chop until the onions wept and the Nameless Ones forgot their names. Arlene says she was such a cook herself. And she saw Jaegal, Ag'Haldr, and other Nameless Ones with her own eyes. Some of them were a bit too arrogant, but quickly began to treat the cooks as equals after they got hit on the head with a hot frying pan.
