Update on Open Beta Release + How to Prep for the Upcoming Open Beta
Before we get started on the details of how to be prepared for the upcoming Open Beta, we have a small update regarding the time we intend it to go live.
We have decided to delay the beta release until later in the week. We know people are looking forward to trying out the coming changes it will bring but unfortunately we’ve hit on a serious bug in the economic loop that depresses global GDP growth over the course of the game.
This issue affects most of the other changes we’ve made, which would make meaningful feedback much harder to give. We’d rather have you play on a solid foundation and be able to provide useful feedback, which is why we’ve decided to go ahead with the delay. With this delay we will also be further pushing back the release of the next AI Update Dev Diary, this is to ensure we can get the Beta to you in the shortest time possible.
Happy Monday Victorians!
This post will explain how to get involved with the 1.14 AI Update Open Beta!
When the Open Beta goes live, you can opt in to the Beta by following these instructions:
-
Navigate to your Steam Library.
-
Right-click Victoria 3 and select “Properties”.
-
In the newly created window, select “Game Versions & Betas”.
-
Now find the “1.14-openbeta” option and select it.
-
If you wish to opt out and return to the live version of the game, you can scroll back up to the top of the same list and select “Default Public Version”
Now on to where to post feedback and bug reports!
Forums
We of course will be checking our regular feedback and bug report sections on the forums. We ask however that any feedback or bug reports be labeled “1.14 Open Beta” in the title of posts. This will help a lot, as we’ll be able to see beta specific posts at a glance. An example below:
Discord
We also have the Open Beta section of the Discord returning! In fact, it will be open shortly after this post goes live so you can get familiar with the layout. For this Open Beta, we have featured two new channels. Those being:
-
open-beta-dev-requests - A channel that the Devs or the Community team can use to ask for specific saves/logs.
-
open-beta-dev-request-submissions - A channel to submit requested saves/logs.
We look forward to reading your feedback!
