Devlog #8: Tools for Every Situation

WELCOME, OFFICERS!

In Police Stories 2, not every problem can be solved with gunfire. Sometimes you’ll need to pick locks, disarm explosive devices, provide first aid, or complete special objectives right in the middle of an operation.

Today, we want to show you several new mechanics and tools we’ve been working on over the past few months, as well as some updates to tools we’ve already talked about before.

A Multitool Instead of a Lockpick

Until now, you may have seen a lockpick in screenshots or videos on our social media (by the way, here they are). Alongside it, we originally planned to add a separate tool - wire cutters for disarming bombs and tripwires.

But instead of having two separate tools, we decided to combine their functionality into a single, more valuable piece of equipment - the multitool.

It is now one universal tool that can handle three different tasks:

Unlocking locked doors.

Disarming tripwires.

Disarming bombs. Assuming, of course, that you know which wire to cut.

So, three tasks and only one equipment slot occupied instead of two.

First Aid Kit

One of the new pieces of equipment is the first aid kit.

With it, you can provide first aid not only to yourself and your partner, but also to detained suspects. Whether they’re civilians or aggressive gangsters, they’re still human. And your motto remains: To Protect and to Serve.

Breaching Charge

Speaking of lockpicks, we also have an alternative way to enter rooms - or create entirely new paths through them.

The breaching charge doesn’t just blow through walls and doors; it also stuns enemies standing behind them. That means it does two jobs at once.

Grenades

We’re continuing to expand the arsenal of throwable weapons.

The flashbang grenade disorients criminals and increases your chances of successfully storming a room.

The fragmentation grenade allows you to quickly eliminate the most dangerous threats.

The tear gas grenade forces criminals to surrender immediately. Just don’t forget to put on your gas mask!

The gas mask protects officers from the effects of gas and allows them to operate safely in contaminated areas. Even if you don’t use tear gas grenades, your enemies might. Or there could be a gas leak somewhere on the level, making some areas unsafe to enter without a gas mask.

Conclusion

We continue developing Police Stories 2 so that every new mechanic does more than simply add content — it expands the player’s tactical options. Equipment is becoming an important part of every operation, and decisions made during a mission can influence how future events unfold.

This is only part of what we’re currently working on, and there’s much more to come.

What gadgets or mechanics would you like to see in Police Stories 2? Let us know in the comments!

Stay tuned, officers!
