🎲 Leaderboard Update in CATAN Universe

Hey Catanians! next monday on August 4th we’re rolling out a major Elo adjustment, based on your feedback, to make ranked play across all expansions fairer, more competitive, and more accurate.

**🧮 Elo Values Are Being Adjusted **

We are not clearing the leaderboards; instead, we’re applying targeted Elo corrections to improve fairness and competition without disrupting the game too much.

What’s happening to Elo ratings:

• Elo above 1400 → adjusted **to 1400 **

• Elo between 800–1400 → **unchanged **

• Elo below 800 → raised **up to 800

**

✅ This one-time correction happens automatically on your login once the backed fix has been deployed on August 4th. Your updated Elo will be reflected on the leaderboard.

 👉** Please be aware that in the first hours of this adjustment, your Prestige rank might fluctuate a bit. Once the majority of active players log in again, your  Prestige rank will be displayed correctly according to the new leaderboard distribution.** 

**Why are we doing this:

** This creates a more balanced competitive environment, allowing both returning and active players to play on more equal footing. Everyone gets a fresh chance, without a full reset. And matchmaking will get faster again. 

**🧍‍♂️ Inactive High-Elo Accounts Will Be Temporarily Removed (August 6th to August 8th) **

To clean up the top of the leaderboard and make space for active players, we’ll be **manually removing leaderboard entries for accounts with Elo above 1400 that haven’t logged on the servers in the days after the change was deployed.

** ⏳ **These entries aren’t gone forever. ** 👉 As soon as they log in, they will receive the same Elo adjustment and reappear on the leaderboard with their corrected rating.

**Why are we doing this: **We want to give everyone the chance to get settled in on the new leaderboards, and we also want to make sure, after a grace period, that we get everyone who is actively playing at the top of the leaderboards in the spot they deserve based on their Elo.

🏆 Elo Cap Introduced: Max 1800

To keep the competitive experience balanced and exciting, we’re capping Elo values at 1800 going forward. 

**Why this is beneficial: **It prevents runaway scores and ensures that matchmaking, even at the very top, will be faster. 

**🧭 Better Matchmaking **

Thanks to a better Elo distribution and leaderboard maintenance, matchmaking will be faster and more accurate again for everyone. You'll be paired with players closer to your skill level.

• “Please remove inactive players from the top.”

• “Matchmaking feels uneven.”

• “Elo doesn’t reflect current skill anymore.”
