Preparing for Roots in the Sky: The Hand of Glory Update

With the upcoming release of Roots in the Sky - The Hand of Glory 2, we've taken the opportunity to update The Hand of Glory to the latest version of Visionaire Studio.

This update is currently available for the Windows version of the game and includes the following improvements:

• Controller support (please note that the game does not feature dedicated controller button prompts. A complete control scheme can be found in the Options menu.)

• Improved Steam Deck compatibility

• Steam Cloud saves

• General bug fixes and stability improvements

Steam Deck Users

We recommend using Proton to play the updated version on Steam Deck, as it currently provides the best experience.

Updates for the macOS and Linux versions will follow at a later date.

Save Game Compatibility

Due to the engine upgrade, some players may experience save game compatibility issues with existing saves.

If you encounter any problems, don't worry: we will keep the previous version of the game available through a dedicated branch.

To access it:

1. Right-click The Hand of Glory in your Steam Library.

2. Select Properties.

3. Open the Betas tab.

4. Enter the password: "THOGobjune2026"

5. This will unlock the dedicated branch.

6. Select "thog_previous_build" from the beta branch list.

This branch contains the previous version of the game and should allow you to continue using older save files without issues. If you experience control issues with the previous version, please follow these steps:

1. On the game's launch screen, click the controller icon.

2. Select the Keyboard (WASD) and Mouse layout.

3. Apply the layout.

This should restore the intended controls.
