The Ultimate German Radio Collection

Presenting the Ultimate German Radio Collection: An Ironman-compatible mod that adds four stations that include over 47 hours of civilian content with its 928 historical, time-accurate songs, along with news events and speeches (not included in the count). UGRC was built to pair with the Ultimate German March Collection 2.0 (also Ironman compatible), which adds even more with its 752 marches, bringing the total number of available songs and marches to 1680. That amounts to over 81 hours of content between the two mods!

UGRC was created because the base game, well, lacks immersion when playing as Germany. As good as the music is, it doesn’t really fit. Indeed, if you’re like me, I tend to speed up the pre-war because of this. Not anymore now with this mod installed! Although this mod focuses on National Socialist Germany, there is plenty of content for alt-history non-communist playthroughs as well. Those four stations, listed here as they appear in-game, are:

...Events Collection: A station consisting of speeches from Hitler and others; news events from notable events of history such as the Hindenburg disaster, the flight of Rudolf Hess, the capitulation of France, etc.; and historical events such as Hitlerjugend and RAD rallies. Presented YY.DD.MM in-game, these will have to be played manually. These are not decision-based to ensure ironman compatibility.

The Ultimate NSDAP Radio Collection: This station is for Nationalsozialistische pieces intended to be played while at peace, but it can also be played during war as well.

...Collection: The counterpart of UNSRC, general non-NSDAP pieces. All were researched, though, to ensure they would have been allowed by the RMVP.

...War Collection: This station is for civilian songs confirmed composed and/or played during the war. Also, RMVP researched.

I do recommend setting the music player to weighted shuffle; otherwise, historical events and speeches will play automatically in-game. Yes, this mod is backwards compatible with earlier versions of HoI4. However, for the best experience, 1.7 (Man the Guns) is recommended, since that is when radio stations were introduced. The goal of this mod is to provide the most extensive time period historically accurate German song collection on Steam for HoI4. Every effort has been made to ensure each piece is of the highest quality. However, since we are utilizing assets composed and released decades ago on vinyl, the quality just may not be there. As such, sound quality may be noticeable on some pieces. If a higher-quality version is found, of course, it will be replaced. Since the game does require assets to be at 44.1Khz, non-AI tools were utilized to upgrade these pieces.

UGRC does change the maintheme to a piece that fits the overarching theme of the current expansion. Why? For the same reason as installing these mods: Immersion! With the emphasis on Czechoslovakia, the main theme is the Badenweiler Marsch. This will be changed with the release of the next DLC to keep it fresh. Feel free to submit suggestions in the Wishlist for pieces that you feel would be a good fit for the next expansion, and even suggestions for the current one that you feel fit even better!

Every intention is present to continue to develop and grow UGRC. However, being one person, your assistance in this regard is very much needed. If you find a piece that would be a good addition to the mod, please post your link to the Wishlist. Please review the Wishlist Discussion for criteria. Do keep in mind that the availability of content is finite, so we may get to a point where growth will slow and may even altogether cease. If we get there, I will continue to support this mod for as long as I am able.

If not announced, considered the mod abandoned if: •Response should not be had or otherwise interacting in the comment's section or providing or releasing an update to the mod over completion of the current DLC, the length of an entire DLC and a new DLC has been released; •Or after 18 calendar months since the last update of the mod and correspondence from me following the most recent Paradox DLC released or official Paradox announcement of an upcoming DLC, if Paradox stops releasing expansions and HoI4 is considered complete.

UGRC is open source. Permission is given for this mod to be utilized as a resource for your own mod and/or project, etc., intended for public release and use so long as: The mod, et al.... •Is not created to be in direct competition with UGRC, unless abandoned; •Is freely available for unlimited download and use; •Has no monetary benefit or financial profit of any kind for the creator/publisher; •Is not placed behind a paywall of any kind, including requiring a subscription to download let alone preview; •Has a link/URL provided to UGRC here on Steam; and •Credit is given to the mod author.

At this time, UGRC is a Steam-exclusive mod and is only supported here. Uploading for use on any modding platform, community, or site is prohibited without my permission, unless abandoned. If found on another modding platform or community/site, please alert me so that action can be taken to have it taken down.
