The Great War Redux deserves all of the credit, without their team and their mod, this mod would have been impossible to make. They deserve the highest praise.

Step into 1910, a time when industrial might determined global power, and Europe teetered on the brink of total war. This mod focuses on historical realism, not game balance: every nation’s strength reflects its true economic, industrial, and military capacities at the dawn of the 20th century.

In 1910, the United States and Europe controlled 87% of the world’s industrial output, making any conflict between the Great Powers a truly global event. The industrial output of the major powers was approximately:

United States: 36%

United Kingdom: 16%

German Empire: 16%

Russian Empire: 8.8%

France: 6.4%

Austria-Hungary: 4%

Italy: 2.5%

Japan: 2.5%

Ottoman Empire: 1%

This mod lets you experience the First World War as it truly was, where victories were won as much by factories, logistics, and raw materials as by soldiers on the battlefield. Command Germany as a rising continental power, defend the global reach of the United Kingdom, or watch the United States emerge as an industrial superpower. Every choice is shaped by historical reality, not artificial balance.

Feel the weight of industrial empires, strategic logistics, and the true scale of global power in the years leading up to the Great War. History is your battlefield.

This mod introduces a fully integrated GDP system, adapted from Better Mechanics: National Economy and carefully adjusted to reflect historical values from 1910. Every nation now has an economy that mirrors its true industrial, agricultural, and financial strength at the dawn of the 20th century. Decisions, production, and military expansion are all shaped by the real economic capacities of the Great Powers, making strategic planning more realistic and historically grounded.

In 1910, the major powers’ shares of world GDP were approximately:

United States: 19%

United Kingdom (British Isles): 10%

British Empire (total including dominions and colonies): 21%

German Empire: 10%

Russian Empire: 8.5%

British India: 8%

France: 5%

Austria-Hungary: 3.5%

Italy: 2.5%

Japan: 2.5%

Ottoman Empire: 1%

Canada: 1.28%

Australia: 0.91%

New Zealand: 0.21%

With this system, economic strength directly affects a nation’s ability to produce equipment, maintain armies, and project power overseas. Players will now feel the true weight of industrial and financial disparity: the United States and the British Empire dominate the global economy, Germany rises as the industrial powerhouse of Europe, and Russia and the Ottomans must struggle to convert their massive territories into effective economic power.

In this mod, dockyards represent the historical shipbuilding capacity of each major power in 1910. The number of dockyards determines how quickly a nation can construct and maintain its fleets, reflecting both industrial strength and strategic naval potential. The numbers might appear high, but they're based on facts:

In 1910, the major powers’ shipbuilding capacity were approximately:

United Kingdom: ~50–55% (~1,200,000 tons/year) - 95 Dockyards Germany: ~15–20% (~350,000 tons/year) - 35 dockyards United States: ~13–17% (~300,000 tons/year) - 31 dockyards France: ~7–8% (~150,000 tons/year) - 15 dockyards Japan: ~6-7% (~140,000 tons/year) - 14 dockyards Russia: ~3–4% (~70,000 tons/year) - 7 dockyards Italy: ~2–3% (~50,000 tons/year) - 5 dockyards

Be aware that the cost for building factories has been increased to portray more realistic construction times, so its good to plan your industry ahead of time.

Every choice you make, from trade and infrastructure to military expansion, is now tied to historical economic realities, providing a deeply immersive and authentic prelude to the Great War. If you have any suggestions, let me know! Have fun!
