AGE OF ABSOLUTISM – A Total Conversion Mod (1444-1480) “What if Europa Universalis V released… inside HOI4?”

Age of Absolutism is an ambitious, long-term total conversion project that transports Hearts of Iron IV far outside its usual 20th-century sandbox and drops it into the dramatic, violent, and politically unhinged world of 1444 to 1600—the age of monarchs, empires, religious wars, exploration, gunpowder, rising absolutism, and the early seeds of modernity.

This isn’t a simple timeline tweak. This is a full-scale reinterpretation of HOI4’s systems to make them feel native to the Early Modern era, while preserving what makes the engine fun: production lines, logistics, strategic planning, and the thrill of painting the map your favorite color.

If you’ve ever wished for an Europa Universalis V experience but with the mechanical depth of HOI4, this mod is exactly that dream brought to life.

🕰️ THE ERA: 1444-1480

This expanded timespan includes:

The Fall of Constantinople and the end of the Medieval world.

The spread of gunpowder, professional armies, and military revolution.

The Reformation, religious fragmentation, and continent-wide conflict.

The Age of Exploration, colonization, and emerging global trade networks.

The early Enlightenment and a Europe transitioning from feudal dynasties to centralized states.

Armies based on knights, formations, and mercenaries.

Production focuses on swords, early artillery, ships, horses, and tools.

Slow state development and heavy reliance on diplomacy.

War exhaustion, attrition, and long conflicts matter.

Navies and sea lanes become the backbone of empires.

Just like EU4, every nation—from France to random German microstates—is usable. Some majors will eventually receive full trees; minors use generic but flexible ones.

🌍 WORLD MAP & POLITICAL STRUCTURE

The map is reshaped to reflect pre-1500 geography:

Reworked borders across Europe, Africa, Asia, and the Americas.

Dozens of new states and early modern polities.

Major powers like the Ottomans, Ming, Castile, Mamluks, Muscovy, Poland-Lithuania, Austria, and France.

Hundreds of minors, from Italian republics to German principalities and nomadic realms.

🗺️ ALT-HISTORY FREEDOM The mod encourages wild possibilities:

-Byzantine Empire Never fell. -An Italy formed in medieval era. -The Slavic Empire formed. -The 9th crousade. -A Japan that conquers the Pacific in 1444. -Islam domination over Europe. -The restoration of The Kingdom of Jerusalem.

History is a suggestion—rewrite it however you want.
