When the future becomes memory, history is no longer safe. Last time, the Reich was broken on the Soviet winter. This time, winter will fight for the Reich.

Pipe Dream: Echoes of the Reich — when a dictator glimpses his doom

In the cold winter of 1936, Adolf Hitler jolts awake at his desk. Cold sweat soaks the eagle-crested uniform. In the twelve-hour slumber that just ended, he was forced to live through the entire Second World War in the role of ”the loser”:

• the flames of the Reichstag,

• the cyanide of the Berlin bunker,

• the gallows of the Nuremberg trials.

Those future images that should never have appeared now gnaw at the nerves of the Führer of the Third Reich like venomous snakes.

Last time, Germany was broken on the Soviet winter. But this time? When a dictator sees his own end in advance — will history still proceed along its original track? How will a Hitler who carries memories of the future act? Will he avoid every choice that led to failure in the dream, or, in trying to change fate, walk an even more deranged path?

This is not a re-enactment of WWII, but a rhapsody on the fission of historical possibility. Between illusion and reality, write the most insane new ending of the Third Reich.
