This is a simple mod that adds the CSA to the '36 campaign. This mod aims to include a full OOB, minister list, unique leaders, unique companies, unique models, a unique national focus and unique interactions with world powers.

In this timeline, the Civil War ends in a stalemate. After an unexpected stall in the approach to Atlanta in 1864, the Union effort to split the CSA down the middle is halted until the Spring. Without a decisive victory, Lincoln loses the presidential election to former general and pacifist George McClellan. With some renewed strength, the Confederate army prepares to hold on for another year, buoyed by increasingly warm relations with Great Britain.

Holding true to campaign promises, McClellan calls for an armistice on April 10th, 1865. Two months later, the Union withdraws, and the peace of Appomatox Courthouse is signed into law.

The terms of the treaty: the CSA is to be treated as a legitimate political entity, with sovereignty over Virgina, the Carolinas, Georgia, Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi, Florida, Louisiana, Arkansas, Texas and the Indian Territory. As both states are 'brotherly nations,' the border shall remain permeable, and both states should cooperate for a common economic and foreign policy.

Immediately after the treaty signing, the CSA congress convened for a convention in Richmond to discuss the state of the nation. Two results came of this in September of the same year: first, a new constitution, proclaiming the 2nd Congress of the CSA, which more firmly protected the rights of states within the Union and spelled out the secession clause. This created a formal confederation of states, possessing rights slightly greater than those of the former Union. Second, a formal abolition of slavery. With an economy ruined and large numbers of slaves in the process of or already defected towards the Union, the congress swallowed its pride and offered tacit civil rights for former slaves, on the grounds said former slaves stay within the Confederacy.

Of the three promises, only one, foreign policy, stuck. Economically and socially, the two remained cold and drifted apart. The CSA, while still an agricultural export magnate, had to industrialize on its own, as its economic links to the north were looser. To achieve this, the CSA formally pursued economic ties with Great Britain, which at times made the peace in North America difficult to keep.

However, regardless, the two nations were brothers, if only diplomatically. At the start of the Great War, both nations entered together , and sat at the table at Versailles. CSA President Woodrow Wilson and Union President Teddy Roosevelt colluded to build the 14 points, only for Britain and France to make up their own minds about the peace they'd see.

Now, in 1936, after the onset of the Great Depression, the CSA struggles. Sick with a weak economy and convulsing under the political pressure of communist separatism and populist surges, the 2nd Congress tries to pilot a safe path into the future. With Hitler's growing ambitions, that might not be possible. The edifice may have to come down - the whole system might have to be torn apart to have the CSA survive. Will it finally have to guarantee the rights of African Americans? Will it submit to separatist pressures? Or will it turn into feverish, populist army?

The South lingers, but will it rise again?
