RE4 Remake Mauser C96 "Red 9" (Magnum)

An old German service pistol found on an abandoned boat in Resident Evil 4 Remake, is the Mauser C96 "Red 9", known as the "Red9" in-game. This handgun can be fitted with an attachable buttstock that doubles as a holster, which is available via trade with The Merchant. It's also Luis' handgun of choice. Given the Spanish military also had a handful of C96s, he likely got it through surplus deals.

The C96 is one of the earliest form of semi-automatic handguns, manufactured by Mauser. It loads from a stripper clip and has an internal magazine capacity of 10 rounds. Early models were all chambered in 7.63mm Mauser rounds, however due to the outbreak of WW1, 9mm versions were made following demands from the German military. These were ingraved with a massive red coloured 9 into their wooden broomhandle grips to warn users not to load the incorrect bullets, thus giving the name "Red 9".
