3PS - Play in Third Person

⸻ Installation

1. Subscribe.

2. Download 3ps․cfg and save it to your L4D2 config folder: Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Left 4 Dead 2\left4dead2\cfg\

᠌Make sure you save the file as "3ps.cfg" (how)

3. Bind the blank keys in Options ➤ Keyboard/Mouse ➤ Edit Keys/Buttons.

Movement: Jump, Duck + Zoom Combal: Push, Scope, Reload, Previous weapon, Next weapon, Last weapon Items: Primary weapon, Pistol, Explosive, First aid, Pain pills 3PS: Activate 3PS, Zoom in, Zoom out

If the 3PS section is missing from your options, disable conflicting addons first. You can re-enable conflicting addons after binding the blank keys. The rebinds ensure 3PS stays consistent with your actions, in particular with scoping.

᠌If you disable 3PS, the keys will appear blank again, they will be visible once you re-enable 3PS. The key rebinds are backwards-compatible so you can still play your game᠌ when 3PS is disabled.

⸻ Usage

• Press "Activate 3PS" to start up 3PS.

• "Zoom in" / "Zoom out" to change the view distance.

• "Duck + Zoom" to zoom when crouching (optional).

• "Scope" to switch back to first person.

⸻ FAQ

• Does this work online? Yes on multiplayer campaigns, survival, and realism, not versus.

• Is this a cheat? No, this is completely legit. You can use it on all servers.

• What about 3rd person with the console? This enhances the original commands.

• I can't hear the shotgun sounds in 3rd person. I published a workaround here: Third Person Shotgun Fix.

• I'm having problems with my flashlight/shadow. Try lowering your effect detail setting in your game's video options.

• Nothing happens when I press "Activate 3PS". Make sure you saved the extra file as "3ps.cfg", not "3ps.txt" (how)

• Can I use this with your vocalizer? Yes, follow the installation instructions. The addons will be detected as conflicting as they both add entries to your game's Keys/Buttons menu, but they work perfectly together once your key bindings are saved for each one of them.
