BT-42

So yes, i tried my luck on a tank for the first time. So i did a Finnish BT-42.

BT-42 is an Assault gun, that was constructed from captured BT-7 Tanks, and British 4.5-inch howitzers. Only 18 of these relatively interesting machines were built.

These tanks quickly became very unpopular with their drivers. The weaknesses could mainly be attributed to the new turret, which added significant weight to the vehicle, stressing the engine and suspension.

BT-42 worked relatively well against soft targets, however it was unsuitable for anti-tank warfare. To fix this problem, it was equipped with copied HEAT rounds. However these rounds did not work correctly, because the fuses failed to arm themself's after firing. There are reports of situation, where a Finnish BT-42 hit a Soviet T-34 18 times, still failing to immobilize the tank. Like BT-7, the BT-42 also featured turning wheels, which could be steered with an additional steering wheel.

And yes, this tank was also featured in a Japanese Anime called Girls und Panzer, some of you might know it trough this.
