Charkov C-400 Mintwest Airlines

CONTROLS AND FEATURES

WARNING: BUILT FOR GAMEPAD

• Controls tailored to gameplad with Action 1 bound to RB and Action 2 bound to LB. This is so you can fly the plane and have use of the camera.
• Left Analog Stick is used for pitch and roll.
• Hand brake controls the hand brake of the wheels and toggles flaps
• Actions 1 or 2 are yaw
• Actions 1 and 2 together are airbrake
• Beacon is navigation lights
• Headlights are taxi and landing gear lights
• Alt pitch controls the landing gear
• Warning lights puts the brakes on the turbofan blades. Driving with this on is considered "taxi mode."
• To taxi, engage warning lights and use the front axle to drive. Turning is best below 4 mph.
• Toggling the warning lights while applying throttle will provide a modest speed boost. A hidden "feature" if you will.

This aircraft is named by the fake Soviet company I came up with for my Yak-1/Lagg-3 inspired WWII fighter: Charkov Design Bureau. The Charkov C-400 is a 40 seat aircraft with folding landing gear and 2 C-400 turbofan jet engines. It was heavily inspired by the form and function of the Boeing 737 and Airbus A320. It is a cheaply produced, no frills, reliable jet designed to transport passengers short to medium distances cross country over the course of an afternoon. To cut costs, meager effort was made to enhance the avionics of the craft and as such, its fuel efficiency is not the main selling point. Currently, the Charkov Design Bureau is only partnered with Mintwest Airlines for their service but plans to expand proceeding future safety tests and an ETOPS rating.

The plane comes with the livery shown in the first few pictures but from time to time I will upload pictures of special liveries at the end of the slide show in case a different color interests you.

CHANGELOG

Update 5: Changed engine gear ratio from 1.0 to 0.9 to better handle shorter take-offs. Now taking off at Bricksville Airport should be a smidge easier.

Update 4: Many superficial details have been added or adjusted. The engines have a newer round look, flap fairings have been added to the underside of the wing, a belly fairing has been added to the bottom, and a few redundant parts here and there have been removed. Picture of changes in slideshow.

Update 3: Many aluminium parts that were unintentionally aluminium were change to plastic. 1,000 lbs of weight have been shaved off! WARNING: Works just fine in automatic mode now!

Update 2: The interior has a bit more work put into it. It has been painted and more resembles being inside a dentist's office. The angle of attack on the horizontal stabilizer has been adjusted to pull the aircraft up more. As a result, the plane is easier to fly at all speeds and does not nose dive when opening or closing landing gear. There are a few minor asymmetrical fixes and redundant part fixes as well.

Update 1: The first version was very bad at taxiing and the flaps only worked when the parking break was on. In this version, the warning light "on" acts as a "taxi" mode, disabling the turbofan from spinning with the 2 front wheels being the only thing driving the plane. This enhances the turning radius on the ground (best at 4 mph) tremendously. Having the turbofan on the warning light does cause some weird glitch where you gain tremendous amounts of speed when you are throttle up and toggle the warning light...we'll consider that a feature.The front wheels are now driven and steer better. The plane can turn on a dime due to this enhancement. Having the turbofans on WARNING: Works best in manual transmission mode!
