[b] ▷ M4 "Sherman" - the main medium tank of the United States during World War II. On classifications-the average. Developed in 1940, it was mass-produced from 1942 until the end of the war. As part of the lend-lease program, the USSR received more than 4 thousand Sherman tanks. Soviet tankers called this combat vehicle "emcha" (from the designation M4) and loved it. To get to serve on an American tank was considered lucky. The convenience of work crews distinguished M4 from any Soviet vehicles. Also, the Soviet tank crews noted the high level of workmanship, "Sherman", the excellent quality of the devices and a powerful radio.Tank "Sherman" is made according to the scheme, more typical for the German tank building of those years: its transmission and control compartment are located in the front part of the body, and the engine compartment – in the rear.
