What if the War to End All Wars actually did?

Introducing the Owl Eye, a 498 brick light tank destroyer. With layered armor, wrap-around treads, and a double barrel armor piercing cannon, this machine was designed to be as compact as physically possible, and with good reason. In the Great War, there were two major settings in which tanks were found: Crawling over the trenches, and ravaging city streets.

This tank was built to be a full-frontal siege weapon, designed to maneuver quickly around tight corners, and even around other tanks. If it can weave in between the ruins of buildings, it would have the ability to outrun heavy tanks, and even gain the upper hand by maneuvering to the tank's weak spots. It even has a Maxim machine gun in the back operated by pressing down on your scroll wheel!

The lack of a rotating turret also allows the tank to be far lower to the floor than other tanks, meaning it can hide behind what others cannot. With that in mind, it is able to surprise even the most trained eye, since you would never expect that a tank could hide completely behind the wreckage of a main battle tank and still have any firepower at all. While navigators try to locate other tanks behind large structures, this bite-sized machine can lie in wait for a tank to pass by, then rip its hull completely apart.

How is it so compact?

The wrap-around treads are the most space efficient design available, since the insides of the treads can be hollowed out to store items. This means all non-explosive gear can be kept in the treads, including about half of where the driver sits! This also means some areas can have double-layered armor, so the wrap-around treads in a Mark tank style actually mean the tank can be stronger overall.

Notes

• This machine was based heavily around the style of Warhammer tanks, and on the design of the Mark IV trench crawler.

• It uses the plane engine so it travels at the same pace both forwards and backwards, meaning the tank is actually more maneuverable than most other tanks. It also gains a lot of torque from having the plane engine.

• The militia seen fighting beside the tanks in the above screenshots is a steampunk Bob model I assembled just today as of November 8th, 2019. I may upload the steam soldiers soon!

• Credit to Kamunist for building the Abrams used in the scene! It truly is an amazing tank replica, and I just had to use it in the images.

• This was originally intended to be a police-grade tank by request of LOGASARUS, but it slowly became a trench crawler as I developed its design.
