[b] M1 Abrams is the main battle tank of the USA, mass-produced since 1980. It is in service with the US Army and Marine Corps, as well as the armed forces of Egypt, Australia, Morocco and a number of Middle Eastern states. Named after General Creighton Abrams. M1 "Abrams" is currently one of the heaviest tanks, its combat weight has exceeded 62 tons. He initiated the use of a number of innovative solutions, including a computer fire control system and separate storage of ammunition using knock-out panels. M1A2 (1992) - independent thermal panoramic sight of the commander, a new gunner's sight with stabilization in two planes and an eye-safe rangefinder, a new commander's turret with 8 periscopes (instead of 6), a thermal imaging surveillance device for the driver, combat information and control system IVIS. Enhanced tower booking by increasing the size of the frontal parts and filling them with 2nd generation uranium armor. The ammunition of the gun is 42 shots. M1A2 SEP v.3 (2015): -unification of the tank ammunition based on two shots - a new multipurpose HM1147 AMP with a programmable fuse and a new armor-piercing sub-caliber M829E4 AKE; -modernization of the tank's fire control system with the installation of ADL equipment (English Ammunition Data Link), which allows firing AMR shots with a programmable fuse; --installation of new FLIR thermal imaging devices in the gunner's sight and the commander's independent panoramic sight, with image output to high-definition displays; (Yandex translate&wikipedia) [b]
