Here it is! The TAM! The Tanque Mediano Argentino Vehículo de Combate (TAM VC) is an MBT designed by Argentinian and German engineers to modernize the Argentine tanks during the late 70's (which included Shermans at that time). Argentina had either 2 options: design their own tank or start "Plan Europa" (search for a foreign tank which fits in the Argentine army). After "Plan Europa" became a failure, the Argentine government took the alternative option. The first TAM prototype was proposed by Thyssen-Henschel, a German defence contractor. This early prototype used a Marder IFV hull with a unique turret and a British 105 mm L7A1 rifled cannon which was later turned into the licensed version, the FM K.4 Modelo 1L. The design was a success, and the tank received modifications which turned it into what nowadays we know as the TAM.
