Yokosuka MXY-7 Ohka Model 11 by Uncle T

My version of the Ohka (Cherry Blossom) model 11 piloted flying suicide bomb. It was apparently often called "Baka" by the US soldiers, "baka" means idiot in Japanese.

It's an approximation, not a 1:1 replica.

It carries 1,200 kg of explosives and was used to ram allied ships which detonated the massive payload and of course killed the pilot. It was carried close to the target by a bomber, usually a Mistsubishi G4M2e model 24, and once they got close enough the Ohka was released and used a short rocket burst to gain speed and altitude before it glided towards the target.

Since I have no Japanese bomber to carry it I made a version that can take off from its cart on the ground with the help of booster rockets and it also has constant cruise rocket thrusters to enable the Ohka to climb to a suitable altitude and find the target. Then the so to speak real rockets that it actually used on release from the bomber can be ignited allowing for a significant speed increase and additional climb if necessary.

Then the Ohka can glide towards it target and ram it. However since gliding with a plane in the game is nearly impossible due to the severe loss of speed whenever you use any control surfaces the cruise thrusters can always be used to keep up speed.

Also since the Ohka was tiny (6 x 5.1 metres) and Bob is a big boy that can't lie down the pilot's head will stick out of the cockpit quite a bit, but rather that than his feet. :)

You can of course also spawn in the Ohka in the air. The cart will fall away and then you can start the cruise/main rockets and fly off. This solution also means the Ohka can be used by a single player with no need for a second bomber pilot.

Alt controls to fly. W: Ignite auxiliary booster rockets and cruise rockets. Booster rockets will burn for 12 seconds which gives you speed enough for take off. They will then be jettisoned. Cruise rocktes can be ignited repeatedly if necessary. S: Turn off cruise rockets. A/D: Yaw. Up/Down arrow: Pitch. Left/Right arrow: Roll. X/Disable steering: Ignite main rockets. They will burn for 20 seconds. Pressing X also activates the proximity sensor in the nose so the bomb will have a better chance of going off than just the impact.

To "glide" successfully without cruise rockets you need to dive at a 30+ degree angle to maintain airspeed, or use the cruise rockets to maintain your speed and altitude.
