[b]The Toyota Supra (トヨタ・スープラ) is a mass-produced sports car manufactured by Toyota since 1978.

The design of the Supra was adopted from the Toyota Celica, but the body was longer and wider[6]. Beginning in mid-1986, the Supra split off from the Celica, becoming a model in its own right. In this regard, Toyota stopped using the Celica prefix, and the car was simply called Supra [7]. The first, second and third generations of the Supra were assembled at the Tahara plant, while the fourth and fifth generations were assembled at the Toyota plant in Japan.

The Supra also shares a connection with the Toyota 2000GT, from which it inherited the engine. The cars of the first three generations were equipped with M-series engines from Toyota Crown and 2000GT. All four generations of the Supra were fitted with inline 6-cylinder engines. The chassis received the code "A".

Toyota has designed its own logo for the Supra. This logo was used until January 1986, when the first independent generation appeared. The new logo was similar in size, with orange lettering on a red background, but without the dragon. This logo, in turn, was used until 1991, when Toyota switched to the company logo.

In 1998, Toyota discontinued sales of the Supra in the United States,[7] and in 2002, production was officially discontinued in Japan.

Four generations received the designations A40, A60, A70, A80. The official names of Toyota vehicle modifications refer only to chassis codes. Toyota uses the Mark II name to refer to its X-platform vehicles, which include the Mark II, Cressida, Chaser, and Cresta[source not specified 877 days].[b]
