The FSO Polonez is a family hatchback that was developed in Poland in collaboration with Fiat and produced by Fabryka Samochodów Osobowych from 1978 to 2002. It was entirely based on the Polski Fiat 125p platform with a new hatchback design by Giorgetto Giugiaro.
Although the car might have looked modern in 1978, under the hood it was basically the 1950's - completely unchanged, too. It used mostly the same components as the Fiat 125p/Fiat 1500 - an almost 20 year old design by then. And it was produced like this until the early 2000's.
This is the first "facelift" so to speak, introduced in 1983. Changes are mostly minor. New wheels, new hubcaps, new air intake on the hood, rear and front spoiler etc.
