Ford RS200 evolution rally

Ford RS200 Evolution is a high-performance, rally version of the Ford RS200, designed for Group B. It featured a more powerful engine and advanced technical solutions. Although Group B was disbanded, the RS200 Evolution went on to compete in rallycross and other racing events.

Key features of the Ford RS200 Evolution: -Engine: An evolved version of the BDT engine, designated as BDT-E, with increased displacement to 2137 cm³ and power output ranging from 558 hp to 826 hp. -Performance: 0 to 100 km/h in about 2 seconds (in its most powerful configuration). -Suspension and brakes: Improved compared to the standard RS200. -Group B: This model was intended to compete in Group B, but due to the class being dissolved after several fatal accidents, the RS200 Evolution did not achieve success in that category. -Rallycross: Several units of the RS200 Evolution competed in the FIA European Championships for Rallycross Drivers. -Adaptation for circuit racing: One unit was modified for IMSA GTO class racing, featuring an engine with over 760 hp.

History and context:

The Ford RS200 Evolution was developed in response to the growing demand for increasingly powerful and faster cars in Group B. The BDT-E engine, developed by Brian Hart, was intended to give Ford an edge over the competition. However, tragic rally accidents led to the end of Group B, disrupting Ford’s plans. Nevertheless, the RS200 Evolution continued its career in other disciplines such as rallycross and circuit racing.
