An FPV drone is a type of unmanned aerial vehicle that is controlled using FPV piloting.

FPV drones are also actively used to engage air targets, in particular reconnaissance UAVs. One of the first Ukrainian units to demonstrate such capabilities and document their use was the Signum UAV battalion, part of the 93rd and later the 53rd Mechanized Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which introduced the use of FPV as kamikaze drones, organized the mass destruction of enemy reconnaissance “wings,” and experimented with the use of fiber-optic-controlled drones.
The fight against fiber optic drones is much more difficult due to their immunity to electronic warfare and the inability to detect them using radio-electronic reconnaissance. The only ways to neutralize them are physical destruction.
