HISTORY
The Sukhoi Su-75 Checkmate is a Russian project for a single-engine, fifth-generation stealth light tactical fighter developed by Sukhoi for both the Russian Aerospace Forces and export markets. First unveiled as a mockup in 2021, the aircraft entered the initial prototype assembly and testing phase, with factory flight tests projected for the 2026–2027 period.
It features a radar-reducing design with internal weapons bays, a V-tail, and an artificial intelligence system acting as a virtual co-pilot. The fighter has a projected maximum speed of Mach 1.8 to 2.0, a flight range of up to 3,000 km, and a payload capacity of 7,400 kg. It is planned to be produced in single-seat, two-seat, and unmanned configurations.
The 2024 updated Su-75 Checkmate features a modified seamless air intake without an internal splitter, a reshaped fuselage, and extended wing root extensions to increase total lifting surface. The V-tail section was refined to further reduce radar cross-section, and a specialized deformative camouflage was patented to distort the aircraft's visual silhouette.
