Hi folks,

I'll no longer be providing updates to this mod. As far as I know it still works as of 20/03/22 (at least, no one has complained about it not working since the last few updates).

Anyone is free to take these files and update them and publish a new version in the future. Crediting me would be nice but not required, this wasn't exactly rocket surgery.

The Mod

This mod adds unlimited oxygen and unlimited oxygenite bottle items stamped with hot pink infinity symbols for easy identification. They can be put in diving masks or the diving suit variants and don't consume oxygen.

The unlimited oxygen bottles are sold at the trader. Unlimited oxygenite bottles are not sold. Both versions can be crafted at a fabricator using the same resources as a normal bottle of that type, both types will deconstruct like normal bottles, so you can deconstruct or fabricate both ways at no cost.

The intention was for the player to buy or make unlimited bottles and put them in all the diving suits/diving masks on the ship. The AI will grab from these to get an unlimited suit/mask. When the player grabs a suit/mask, swap out the unlimited bottle for normal bottles. The unlimited bottles can go into any regular containers including the shelves below the diving suits. That said, if you want to use them for yourself too nothing is stopping you.

Unlimited bottles can be used in welders and cutters but are consumed as normal and will explode in the wrong tool. They can refill in the O2 generator.

Questions

Can this be added to an ongoing campaign?

Yes.

Can this safely be removed from a campaign?

Yes, as far as I know. There will be error messages about the missing items the first time you load. Any unlimited bottles will vanish into the ether, but it should continue.

Does the unlimited bottles work for players as well?

Yes. It’s the honour system. The FBI are not currently investigating unauthorised unlimited bottle usage.

The unlimited bottles fit in plasma cutters/welders. Are they unlimited for tools too?

No. The unlimited bottles will be consumed or explode like normal bottles. If you deplete an unlimited oxygen bottle you can refill it in an O2 generator. If you deplete an unlimited oxygenite bottle you have my respect but no oxygenite.

Other Mods

The unlimited bottles DO NOT work with mods that add new diving gear. You will suffocate.

Any mod that makes changes to the vanilla diving gear, adds or changes oxygen sources vanilla gear use will conflict with this mod. Either you'll suffocate trying to use the unlimited bottles, or the other mod won't work and you'll suffocate using their items.

It is easy to make compatibility patches. I've given instructions in the comments, dated 8th September 2021.
