Nova VX

Repurposed from a failed line of luxury submarines, the Nova VX is everything a captain wants - if they never plan to take the submarine out of docking port. Its sleek design include wide open floor plan that cause heavy flooding on leak and lack safety features. Its powerful engine/reactor combo is prone to fire. Despite the obvious flaws, hundreds were made and bankrupted its manufacturer. Now it is sold for cheap by the Coaliation. This one seems to have evidences of tampering, however.

Feature:

1. Overdrive system:

A product of a mad clown - Fatal Foxtrot - who tampered with the sub. Activate from the nav terminal, this pushes the engine and the reactor to its limit as well as unlocking use of extra pumps, allowing for extreme speed. At level 100 helm, overdrive mode will allow you to go at 100km/h!

However, this power comes with a limit - if used for too long, the systems will not be able to handle it and will set fire on itself:

Use this mode in moderation, and it will reward you with 2 levels of super attacks using discharge coils.

2. Periscope ramming mode:

Another work by the mad clown. During overdrive, the periscope light will turn red.

Using the periscope will allow access to the periscope ramming mode, which allow you to navigate with the periscope (Hold trigger to move backward - cursor up to move up, down to move down, release to launch straight ahead) and ram through enemies using the Nova VX powerful forward engine, slicing them up at the same time.

Note that periscope isn't required - you can use navigation terminal to ram and it will still work fine. However, isn't it better to watch enemies shredded live in front of you?

3. Advanced automatic reactor control:

Being a small submarine that can possibly be crewed by a single captain, the sub has an automatic reactor control systems that can manage power to consumption rather well in normal conditions, letting you focus on more pressing matters like not crashing or avoiding enemies. However, overdrive mode will cause it to go haywire.

4. Weapon systems:

2 standard coilguns & 1 forward mount railgun that can only shoot straight ahead. However, the luxury ship is not intended for extended combat duration and lack dedicated storage for ammo, as well as having only 1 super capacitor shared between the guns.

5. Detailed, beautiful design:

The Nova VX was lovingly designed in every detail to fit its name as a luxury vehicle. Enjoy the high class interior design as a captain, or dive in the complex machineries of the half constructed engine room as mechanics.

6. Balance:

Special care was made to make sure despite being an extremely fast submarine, this sub still feel balanced to be used (still rather subjective, but I tried). Its design punish heavily for missed ramming or running into walls at high speed, making a majority of the sub flooded in no time and cause sinking. Abuse of overdrive also cause fire and shut down of systems. However, some of these draw back can be alleviate by upgrading systems, making the Nova VX remains viable in later game. Hint: fires are caused by overvoltage. You can use marks to upgrade system, or use components to make better uses of the batteries.

7. A submarine with a story:

Scattered on the sub are log books that gives you some lore about its history, and some not-quite explanations about its mechanics.
