This Challenge Beacon is 100% working and random spawnable in vanilla campaign, just like a normal beacon.

MC Beacon A-27 CHALLENGE BEACON

This vanilla random spawn beacon is designed as a potentially deadly escape room challenge. You must navigate the beacon repairing structural damage while solving puzzles. As with vanilla beacons you must refuel and power the reactor then turn on the sonar at a console but this beacon also requires the flipping of a "victory" lever.

This is not a long challenge and is designed to be completed in just under two minutes. You are encouraged to explore the beacon for additional looting after the "victory" lever has been flipped.

STORY

MISSION:

While enroute to your destination, sensors have detected a weak emergency broadcast signal emanating from a nearby abandoned beacon. Long range Geiger counters detect the presence of significant nuclear material at the location. Your chief engineer alerts you that an encoded message is embedded in the broadcast. The message appears to be a log file containing a series of journal entries. Message:

Interstellar Mining Corporation Personal Log ID-248825461-6 Ensign M. Williams Electrical Engineer 1st Class

19-25-2447 (Eu Virgo – 25th 2447) Oh man, I can’t believe I got this posting! When everyone in the outpost showed up for the vote to approve the beacon, I was sure all the positions would be taken by us locals, but I am the only one! Everyone showed up to see me off. Joel even gave me his guitar! I plan to give it back to him next time I see him though.

20-7-2447 (Eu Kanya – 7th 2447) This place is huge for a relay beacon! I thought there would be just a couple of us but seven others have arrived so far. Everyone else here looks like they have some time in with the company. Maybe I can learn a thing or two and they will keep me on after we are done here! Imagine me being able to get a posting anywhere on Europa!

20-22-2447 (Eu Kanya – 22nd 2447) We have been getting tons of deliveries that I guess we are storing for transport: mining equipment, refining drums and even a giant pulse laser drill! It’s pretty cool seeing all those toys but I hope someone comes to take them wherever they are supposed to go, cause it’s getting crowded in here. Thought we were supposed to be a relay not a warehouse. On a side note, I have been getting better on the guitar! Really going to surprise Joel next time I see him if I keep it up!

21-9-2447 (Eu Libra 8th 2447) So… the foreman had me wire up that plasma drill today. Got to admit they work fast, slapped that thing against the side of the beacon’s shell in a day! They must have done it tons of times before. I casually asked the site manager today why we were setting up the drill and she got pissed. Spat out this monologue about how the company was allowed to perform exploratory drilling while waiting on a permit as long as the original structure was approved by the local community. I mean I could care less really, I don’t see what harm collecting a few core samples could do.

21-11-2447 (Eu Libra 11th 2447) Exploratory drilling my ass! Every thirty seconds… ZAP! ZAP! ZAP! For seventy-two hours straight .. Zap! Zap! Zap! I can’t sleep and I can barely think. That damned drill shakes the whole beacon every time it fires! If this keeps up I am going to have quit and get out of here! Hope the folks won’t be disappointed… Whoa! THAT DAMN DRI ... wait, is that an alarm?

21-12-2447 (Eu Libra 12th 2447) No! Our long-range sonar picked up a pack of raptors on the move a few clicks away. Our drill must have attracted them… but they didn’t come here. Those blood thirsty bastards headed straight for the outpost. We tried to alert everyone but it didn’t help… We don’t even have a shuttle! We all just stood there in the comms room in a frozen silence, as we watched the updated pings of debris fall from the outpost. My friends... my family... everyone I know. Oh God… I wired the drill... please let my family be alive.

21-14-2447 (Eu Libra 14th 2447) We have been trying shortwave for days with no response… I fear the worst. Maybe some of them got… WHOA! What was that?!

21-15-2447 (Eu Libra 15th 2447) They fucking attacked us! I heard the raiders screaming at someone on the other side of the door. It was HIS voice! It was fucking JOEL! He sounded crazed. like someone else. Somehow Joel survived! but... it wasn’t Joel. They killed Bill, the old mechanic in charge of the drill... I think they killed all of them ... they were screaming SO loud! I ran and hid in the mechanics bay. I can’t. I can’t face Joel! I was able to rewire some circuits to create makeshift traps, maybe that will hold them! Keep them from getting to me until someone comes.

21-17-2447 (Eu Libra 17th 2447) They left. The cams still work in here. Some of the crew lasted over a day. I watched them, helpless. I couldn’t not see. Like I had to because I lived. Because I was safe and they… There is no shuttle and still no response on the comms. Why did I have to join the company? The outpost was great. I miss you guys.

21-18-2447 (Eu Libra 18th 2447) You fucking IMC bastards! This is all YOUR fault! If you weren’t drilling somewhere you weren’t supposed to everyone would still be alive! Well I have a fucking surprise for you!

21-18-2447 (Eu Libra 18th 2447+ Ran out of fuel for the reactor today. O2 should last another day or so... or maybe ill just take this shotgun and put a fucking end to it!

21-19-2447 (Eu Libra 19th 2447) I chose. I’m sorry mom. I hope you can forgive me Joel.
