Themisto

"Originally commissioned as an attack class, the Themisto was drafted as a combat drone carrier. Due to doctrine shifts and a forward section vulnerable to Europan fauna, the configuration quickly became unpopular. The Themisto class was converted into an auxiliary survey and mining vessel to shore up a "Missing middle".  Considered more combat capable than other vessels in its role, it's frequently used as a stopgap when a location is high risk, but a dedicated attack vessel is unavailable.."

Put forward initially as a ship to make use of new expansions into Coalition drone technology, the Themisto fields a long range sensor and direct-data-link hardware. While this was originally intended for use with combat drones, the operations suite was ideal for repurposing into the mining sector. Mineral survey crews could be dispatched at great distance. The original military design proved effective, especially in the Europan Ridge, where local fauna was often too thick for standard civilian mining submarines to explore.

The Themisto line, modified as it is, is still in use today, and is often fielded on the Ridge. The Autonoe MAV is not ubiquitous amongst shipyards, but is common enough that replacements can still be sourced, and its top-of-the-line mineral surveying capabilities keep it in active circiulation amongst mining stations and the Coalition fleet at large.

Features

Drone Operations Focus - The Themisto is equipped with the hardware to field the Autonoe Mining Assistance Vehicle. This drone is fast, lightweight, and fields unique mineral scanner hardware that the Themisto has a direct link to. Effective use of the compact craft will allow crews to support mining expeditions, salvaging, exploration and more.

Robust Electrical Systems - The Themisto's military electrics are still mostly in place. Backup batteries, a general alarm system, and condition updates available at the helm will all serve the crew well. Points of catastrophic failure remain at a minimum, and cutoffs for lighting and life support exist for emergency power conservation maneuvers. The emergency lighting system will remain functional in even the most dire of situations.

Military Ship Gone Civilian - While refits have poorly affected the flooding resistance of the ship in some places (Namely by replacement of proper plating with glass for visual assessments), the Themisto still features excellent resistance to sinking, remaining forgiving up until the worst of breaches. With strong arcs of fire, its powerful weapon compliment, paired with the ventral discharge coil, will ensure that any Europan fauna is at least manageable while you're on mission!

The ceilings might be low, but the ship's mix of windowed and solid doors create a "Sprawling" feel. The Themisto is a vessel with challenging quirks that inexperienced captains will be caught off guard by. There remains plenty of room for industrious engineers to add additional systems, like oxygen sensors and fire alarms - And the fabrication center of the Themisto is also quite capable.

With a strong design emphasis around providing scavenging options to crews, this ship is ideal for long-haul campaigns that will stray far from civilization - All while buttoned up in a unique hull profile.
