Audace Stealth Corvette

Description

Fast, agile and compact, the Audace can perform extremely well for its size; a special siphoning ballast makes descent quick to reach top speed while the stealth system grants the option to easily pass by unnoticed by hostile fauna. Underarmed as it may be, its one pulse laser hits hard and the electric discharge coil covers an entire half.

How to play

An extremely compact and small sub, the Audace is capable of quick manouvers and silent running, making it adept at avoiding hostiles. The good variety of its armaments allow it to tackle a fair amount of threats head on, while the siphoning ballasts allow the vessel to quickly move downwards if need be.

The stealth mode works by shutting down the reactor, reducing maximum speed to 20% and turning off all external lights, making the sub extremely hard to locate while still allowing limited movement: it is possible, through skilled manouvering and a bit of luck, to move through the abyss without getting spotted.

It goes without saying, but the small size and the light armour of the sub don't do well when under heavy attack, especially from multiple directions: half of the skill needed to pilot the Audace comes from being able to avoid threats in the first place.

Author's notes

With the new update, it is possible to have a mechanic that can allow Tier 3 upgrades on lower tier subs: why not a full campaign with the Audace? ;)
