Описание автора
Through in-game rewiring, a Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) circuit can be built to stabilize the power consumption of the engines to prevent junction boxes taking damage from being overloaded beyond threshold. This also allows the machinery to be safely overloaded within the tolerance level of the junction boxes to increase performance.
The vanilla Winterhalter is particularly suited for the PWM solution. On top of that, the three 5000 kw relay components existed on the ship can also be used to rewire the power grid, allowing many non-essential loads to be cut off from the reactor to achieving maximum overload ratio to the engines and the pumps. With full upgrade and talents, a rewired vanilla Winterhalter can reach about 55 km/h.
This Winterhalter is pre-installed with the PWM circuit and the rewired power grid. In addition, some of the editor-only modifications have also been added. Mainly: • The large cabinet beside the fabricator was linked to the fabricator. • Cargo spawn point was moved to the main hallway. • A stairwell room was added to the foremost of the ship. • The size of the ballast rooms was increased. • Force of the large engine was increased to compensate for the increased hull volume. • The small room in the front of the research lab now has two beds. • Two search lights have been added. • Some interior aesthetic issues have been made consistent.
Game-play Tips: • This submarine requires at least two fuel rods to be reach full potential, just like a vanilla Winterhalter. • To warm-up the ship before going, turn on the engine PWM first. Then, turn on reactor maximum output. • In situations where extreme top speed or acceleration is needed, press the MAX SPEED button on the navigation terminal. In this mode, the batteries will provide power to the non-essential loads to reach maximum overload ratio for the engines and pumps. • To safely turn off the PWM mode, shut down the reactor first to reduce the power output.
This solution of PWM with grid rewiring can be applied on pretty much all of the vanilla submarines. For anyone interested in the details, this ship can serve as an example. The PWM signal is generated using this method: if the (triangle wave output * 100) is bigger than the throttle, output -100; otherwise, output +100. Then, it is important to "hack" this signal so it is still considered to be sourced from the navi-terminal. Only after that, the engines receive buff from captain's helm skill. A power of zero is used with a multiplication to achieve this.
For vanilla submarines with a maximum reactor output lower than 4200 kw, this guide provides a simpler solution to maximising their speed: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2926592414
Update Log: • Version 1.3: The PWM circuit had been optimized (now use less parts) and put into a circuit box.
