Whispers - Adventure map

WHAT IS THIS?

Whispers is a multi-part story adventure maps, loosely based in the narrative of Barotrauma. It was made for solo playthrough, but you can make it duo.

The map uses text boxes over the environment to convey information and narrative, a little like point and click adventure games. Move the cursor over scenery, like a bookshelf or poster, and I’ll usually have a memory component with text overlaid to give some information about that scenery.

Completion time is 120-260 minutes, it depends on your willingness to read. Scenario is divided into 3 parts, so you don't have to go through it all at once.

[STORY]

You play the head of a maintenance crew keeping a massive satellite dish on the highly irradiated surface of Europa in operation. The dish is the lifeline between Europa and the rest of humanity (including Earth who doesn't seem to be on speaking terms with the coalition right now). You ship any communications received to people who are probably more important and powerful then you’ll ever hope to be, and then ensure their response is transmitted.

The days drag on through a haze of radiation and monotony until your mind slowly turns into mush. This is where the story begins.

[PREPARATION]

Warning! This map requires you to know English on at least «Pre-A» level, or you will struggle a lot.

1. Subscribe to Whispers and Sofa`s deco.

2. In the game menu, select "Mods" and choose both mods (move them from the right column to the left one), and press "Apply". [Whispers, Sofa`s deco] In Settings: -Enable vertical sync (It increases stability). -«Line of sight effect» should be "Opaque". -Close all resource intensive background processes.

3. Host a password protected server, in submarine selection choose «Whispers p.1(>p2.p.3)», -Set sandbox gamemode, difficulty to 0%. -Turn off respawn shuttle, respawn time 1 minute.

4. Skip this step if you don't have any issues with game's performance while playing on usual servers/submarines. Additionally subscribe to «Performance fix» and «lua for barotrauma» in the Workshop. Just like before, move these mods from the right to the left column. -In the main menu press on "Host server", in the opened tab, in "Server executable" replace "Vanilla" with "Lua For Barotrauma - DedicatedServer", and press "Start". -In the next menu (where you're selecting a submarine), press F3 and type "install_cl_lua" (without brackets). -Restart the game just as it asks you to. -Create the server the same way, but don't install anything this time (go to step № 4).

[GAME'S RULES]

-Don't spawn as a captain or security officer. (If you spawn as one, discard all your weapons) -All terminals are sensitive to the case (write using CAPS LOCK). -After completing the first part, finish the session and choose Whispers p.2>p.3.
